Devlog #6.5- Steam page is up!

Over the last week I’ve been preparing my steam storefront page, and yesterday it was approved and now publicly visible on the store!

Go give it a wishlist now to pump motivation into my veins >>> https://store.steampowered.com/app/2139770/Nagayami_Nights_Prologue/
I super appreciate it <3

Setting up Steam

The process of setting up a steam page is exhausting. They require heaps of different sized images featuring the title of your game, which is especially tiring when the game is pixel art and doesn’t just scale to whatever size you need. So I spent a lot of time counting pixels and ended up with 3 different sizes for the title, here's the finalised main version, and you can see the other sizes in the images below-

I plan to go back and redo probably the entire page, so I tried not to dwell on anything for too long. But I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. Here are some of the final images-

The next surpisingly complicated task was working out the tags and the relevant order they should be in. How many tags can apply to my game kind of blew my mind, but I think that's partly to do with how vague video game terminology is. I have a decent idea about what my game will be like, but it's hard to pick which crowd of people I should be targeting as my game spans a lot of genres. But looking at the 'games like this' section with games like Omori and Persona, I must have done something right.

Overall, summarising my game for the page was difficult, and I don't think my game sounds that great on paper, but looking at the store page does do wonders to making it feel like a legitimate game.

If you have any opinions on the steam page, anything that pulled you in or turned you off, then I'm all ears! I'm no marketing pro so I need all the help I can get.

This week’s devlog is titled as 6.5 because I’m planning to move these devlogs to Wednesdays from now on. It should give more opportunities to get eyes on the project with weekly devlogs on Wednesdays and screenshots on Saturdays on twitter(follow me there if you’re interested.

Thanks for reading! Check back Wednesday for more :)
